On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, "They have no wine." John 2:1-3

When we think of Mary, the mother of Jesus we think of a holy woman of God (which she was) levitating on a cloud of glory with a halo on her head and a righteous look on her face, but according to history she was a pudgy little housewife who loved her husband and children, yes, Jesus had brothers and sisters!

Mary said to Jesus, "They have no wine." Now up until this time Jesus had not performed any miracles, so, did Mary receive a revelation from God, or did she want him to run down to the market and buy some wine? Jesus told the servants to fill the six water pots with water that were used for the washing of feet and hands for purification and draw out some and take it to the master (headwaiter) of the feast.

The servants obeyed and the master of the feast was amazed that the bridegroom would serve the best wine last! Now the significance of the water pots was this, "The number six represents imperfection, as in man's condition and his attempt to purify himself. From Jesus comes living water and represents perfection and the wine represents the blood shed to purify the sins of man!"

This is the beginning of signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee and manifested His glory; and His disciples believed in Him. John 2:11
