As I am approaching 80, I have experienced most of what Solomon was speaking of, except, of course, death, which, in God's timing, I will also experience, as all of us will! My late brother used to say in his old age, "The years are coming around like Sundays."
It is amazing how fast time accelerates as we age, but when we were young, nothing seemed to come to us fast as the old saying goes, "Slower than Christmas." I was young, and in the blink of an eye, we are old! Lately, I am having more than normal memories of the past, and in my sleep, dead friends and relatives often visit!
Solomon often used the term vanity in the things he experienced, and when we stand before the Lord in Glory and look back at our lives, will they also be the vanity of vanities? Now is the time to surrender to the Lord Jesus and receive His gift of salvation before the clock strikes its last sound, and in the twinkling of our eyes we are before the King!
I know that whatever God does, it shall be forever. Nothing can be added to it, and nothing taken from it. God does it, that men should fear before Him. That which is has already been, and what is to be has already been; and God requires an account of what is past. Ecclesiastes 3:14-15
