As Saul journeyed, he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven. Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?" And he said, "Who are You, Lord?" Then the Lord said to him, "I am Jesus whom you are persecuting, it is hard for you to kick against the goads." Acts 9:3-5

Saul had asked letters from the synagogues of Damascus to bring anyone of the Way bound and brought to Jerusalem, but Jesus appeared to him, and he was knocked to the ground! The scourge of the churches was now in God's hands and was about to be changed forever!
Jesus would take His enemy, Saul, and transform him to become Paul, and anoint him to be the founder and master builder of the Gentile church, something Saul would have never dreamed of! A Hebrew of Hebrews, concerning the law, a Pharisee, concerning zeal, a persecutor of the church! The devil lost a champion with this one!
Struck down, blinded, and without food or drink Jesus would send a man named Ananias to lay hands on him, restore his sight and he was baptized in the Holy Spirit. God, in essence, took a raw piece of clay and molded it into a new creation in Christ! Saul would become Paul, apostle to the Gentile!
"Saul is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel. "For I will show him how many things he must suffer for My name's sake." Acts 9:15,16
