So the woman bore a son and called his name Samson, and the child grew, and the Lord blessed him, and the Spirit of the Lord began to move upon him. Judges 13:24,25
In the days of the judges God raised up a man to defeat His enemies, a man whose character never caught up with his great strength. Samson was probably the strongest man who ever lived, called as a Nazarite, he couldn't cut his hair or drink strong drink.
Samson is a type and shadow of a Spirit filled Christian who disobeyed God and ended up a captive of his enemies by committing a sin unto death! Within this story we will see the dangers of committing willful sin and the consequences that are brought about by our disobedience.
It seemed that Samson didn't have a relationship with God because he was a loner, maybe partly because of his calling, but from day one he willfully broke all of God's commands in regard to his Nazarite vows. As we will see Samson couldn't marry a Gentile, couldn't touch a corpse and couldn't go into prostitutes that would defile his parents.
Now Samson went down to Timnah and saw a woman in Timnah of the daughters of the Philistines. Judges 14:1
