Sing praise to the Lord, you saints of His, and give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name. For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. Psalm 30:4-5

David danced before the Lord with all his might, wearing a linen ephod, as an expression of joyful and wholehearted worship. After a terrible mistake of Uzzah trying to steady the Ark of the Covenant and being struck dead, David left it at Obed-Edom's house.

David was afraid of the Lord that day, and he said, “How can the ark of the Lord come to me?” So, David would not move the ark of the Lord with him into the City of David, but David took it aside into the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite. The ark of the Lord remained in the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite three months. And the Lord blessed Obed-Edom and all his household. When David hears that God has blessed the house of Obed-Edom, he decides to move the Ark to Jerusalem as originally planned.

David found out the Ark of God was not to be taken lightly and must be carried according to God's word! It was to be carried exclusively by Levites on poles inserted through rings on its sides, never touched directly as a sacred duty. As it happened to Uzzah, no one could touch the Ark of the Covenant without dying!

You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, to the end that my glory may sing praise to You and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks to You forever. Psalm 30:11-12
