Now it happened, as we went to prayer, that a certain slave girl possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much profit by fortune-telling. This girl followed Paul and us, and cried out, saying, “These men are the servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation.” Acts 16:16,17

Early on in my journey with Jesus, I was thrust into the deliverance ministry, not by choice but by necessity. For the first five years of my walk, I was confronted with many who were demonized, some even possessed, and had to learn how to deal with them!

Being in a Baptist church, there wasn't much help or instruction in casting out demons, so my teacher was the Holy Spirit, who was very helpful in my training. After I was visited by an angel who confirmed my calling in the residential ministry to drug addicts, prostitutes, and alcoholics, deliverance became a way of life!

Years ago, before my conversion, my former wife used to visit a witch named Johnny Bell in Dallas who told fortunes, and many businessmen would seek her out for her prognostications. She told my wife that she saw her father-in-law, my dad, with a red cross on his chest. She told me about it, and I laughed it off. Not long after, my dad was diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer, and when I visited him, I walked in, and his shirt was off, and he had a red X on his chest for radiation treatment and died two days later.

And this she did for many days. But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, "I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her." And he came out that very hour. Acts 16:18
