Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality. Romans 12:9-13

We should all be motivated by love. Love is God's nature and character, and those who are born again have inherited His nature. As He loved us, we should also love others, not only in word, but also in deeds.

There is no greater love than laying down one's life for another. Jesus proved His love for us by giving up His life on the cross. God so loved the world that He gave the Lord Jesus, for us that we might receive eternal life! Jesus said that the greatest commandment was to love God with all of our hearts!

He then said that the second greatest commandment was to love our neighbor as much as we love ourselves. The whole law was fulfilled by these two commands, love God and love your neighbor.

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing. Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. I Corinthians 13:1-7
