The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. Psalm 9:9
Refuge means the state of being safe or sheltered from pursuit, danger, or difficulty: Our refuge is the Lord Jesus Christ, our shelter from the storms of life. There are many times when we need a safe place, a secret place to hide from our enemies.
There were times in our residential ministry when ladies were pursued by boyfriends, ex-husands or even drug dealers or pimps, and we hid them from danger and abuse. We became a safe place for them to learn about Jesus and give their lives and hearts to Him.
Psalm 91:1-2 speaks of dwelling under the secret place of the shadow of the Almighty. The closer you get to Jesus, the more His shadow protects you! He is our hiding place of refuge and safety from the darkness of this world.
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.” Psalm 91:1-2
