Did you ever get separated from a parent at a department store or at the mall when you were a child? For a little kid, this can be a terrifying ordeal! Even for us as adults, the enemy can bring about fear, doubt, and unbelief to try and make us believe we are all alone and God is nowhere to be found!
This is why we have His promises in the word, to hold on to in times of trouble or sickness. God is always there for us even though we don't feel His presence we can know that He promised He wouldn't leave us or forsake us. It is so important to know His word and to study and understand the many promises we have been given to hold on to.
When Jesus began His ministry, He went out into the wilderness on a forty-day fast and was tempted by the devil. All alone and being tempted He knew who He was and to Whom He belonged! Satan's first shot at Him when He was tired and hungry was, "If You are the Son of God turn this stone into bread!" If? Was there any doubt?
Jesus answered him, saying, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, 'but by every word of God.' " Luke 4:4
