Solomon surely saw it all in his life, and he possessed more than anyone in his time, but the conclusion of his take on things was all vanity! The good, the bad, and the ugly things of life are all planned by God! Like he said, who can make the crooked things straight?
It is as if people are born and fired into life like a rocket. Running to and fro looking for their part in life, which many times looks like a squirrel cage: a lot of running but getting nowhere! We are put here for one purpose: to find God, or, in my case and others, to be found by God!
I am almost 80 years old, and I am doing a lot of reflecting on my past, looking back and seeing my life from God's perspective, which to me looks like a "Chinese fire drill!" I am beginning to understand that we are being groomed for eternity with trials and tests to temper us. I was watching a movie with a father making a sword, and he asked his son a question: "Fire or ice?" The boy answered, fire, the father then said, " No, son, both! (Fire to heat, ice to temper)
There is a just man who perishes in his righteousness, and there is a wicked man who prolongs life in his wickedness. Do not be overly righteous, nor be overly wise: Why should you destroy yourself? Do not be overly wicked, nor be foolish: Why should you die before your time? It is good that you grasp this, and also not remove your hand from the other; for he who fears God will escape them all. Ecclesiastes 7:15-18
