Absalom the son of David had a lovely sister, whose name was Tamar and Amnon the son of David loved her. II Samuel 13:1
And so, the curse begins upon the children of David because of his sins with Bathsheba and Uriah. Bathsheba's firstborn dies and then David's son, Amnon falls in love with his stepsister and rapes her.
When David's son Absalom found out that Amnon raped his sister, he said nothing, but two years later at a gathering of sheep shearers he had Amnon murdered! After the murder of Amnon, Absalom fled and began to build up his own kingdom against his father,David. Absalom would gradually win the hearts of the people as his scheme to take over Isarel began to succeed.
As the threat of Absalom's popularity with the people and his eventual rise to power David fled the city and left 10 concubines to keep his house who would later be molested byAbsalom on the top of the house in front of all Israel. This confirmed God's word to David concerning the curse on him for his disobedience. Later Absalom would be killed as he fled from David's commander, Joab.
Joab rebukes David as he mourned for Absalom who was intending to kill his father and his servants! "Now therefore, arise go out and speak comfort to your servants. For I swear by the Lord, if you do not go out, not one will stay with you this night. And that will be worse for you than all the evil that has befallen you from your youth until now." II Samuel 19:7
