As sons of God, our relationship with our heavenly Father should be one of love, respect, and adoration, just as it should be with our earthly father. The difference being, we have to build a dialog with Him as He is Spirit, and we are flesh!
This is where we learn to study His word and begin to hear His voice in the Spirit. As we show ourselves approved to God as workmen who rightly divide His word according to II Timothy 2:15 a dialog begins to grow into a relationship with your heavenly Father. Once this is accomplished, we can ask without hesitation the things we desire of Him.
Disciples are not weekend warriors as if we were in a heavenly reserve unit, it is a full-time sold-out relationship of love and duty to Him who has redeemed us. We are no longer our own to do as we please, but we are to be led by the Holy Spirit as we traverse this earthly life.
"As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. "If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love." John 15:9,10
