I can't say that I went to My heavenly Father like the prodigal son, but I believe God came to me! There were two men, one had worked for me and the other was a friend of his and together they had been praying for my salvation.
One night in my desperation I was putting together a half million-dollar drug deal when there was a knock on the door. My wife answered and it was one of the men who had been praying for me so I said, send him up, I was ready for anything with a 45-cal. pistol, a lid of grass, a gram of coke, and a pack of Marlboro's! The man came in with a dispensational chart displaying the history of Christianity from the garden to the crucifixion and the end times!
At the end of the chart was a lake with little heads popping out and I asked him what that was and he said to me, that is where everyone who reject Christ are thrown, in the Lake of Fire! I was near the end of my life, broke, busted, and disgusted and had enough of the fast lane! Then the man asked me, "Do you believe God will save you tonight?" I said YES and dropped to my knees and gave my life to Jesus! I don't remember praying the sinner's prayer all I said was YES!
From that moment on I was born-again, a new creation in Christ and I felt as though a million pounds were removed from me that very night! He set me free of drugs and cleansed my filthy language and the old things began to pass away. That was 45 years ago, and I have been through many trials and tribulations but through it all He was with me, and He will do the same for you! Praise be to God!
The prodigal son said to his father, "I have sinned against Heaven and in your sight, and am no longer worthy to be called your son. But the father said to his servants, 'Bring out the best robe and put it on him and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet. And bring the fatted calf here and kill it and let us eat and be merry; 'for this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.' " Luke 15:21-24
