Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise: “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.” Ephesians 6:1-3

Growing up in the fifties, things were different; kids were basically respectful because in those days discipline was the consequence for bad behavior. In high school, there was still what would be called today, child abuse, where a full-grown adult, usually a coach, would bend you over his desk and with the full backswing of his paddle lift you off the ground! (OUCH!)

The sixties brought sex, drugs, and rock and roll, and with it, rebellion! The music was great, even tame compared to what would come with heavy metal, grunge, and rap. The fruit of much of the music formed a rebellious nature in kids, even a demonic presence, as they were being led astray!

Seeing the results of parents, many of whom didn't have a clue about raising kids, when I directed drug rehabs, I couldn't blame everything on them because the devil was fighting tooth and nail for their kids! The only hope today for kids is to train up your children in the Lord! AMEN?

And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord. Ephesians 6:4
