"Please let not my lord regard this scoundrel Nabal. For as his name is, so is he. (fool) Nabal is his name, and folly is with him! But I your maidservant, did not see the young men of my lord whom you sent." I Samuel 25:25
"Please let not my lord regard this scoundrel Nabal. For as his name is, so is he. (fool) Nabal is his name, and folly is with him! But I your maidservant, did not see the young men of my lord whom you sent." I Samuel 25:25
Nabal's wife, Abigail was told what happened and she gathered provisions and rode out to meet David explaining that her husband was a fool and to let this iniquity fall on her.
David received her apology and blessed her thanking her for keeping him from destroying her family. He then told her to go in peace to her home and said to her, "I have heeded your voice and respected your person."
Abigail went to her husband Nabal who was having a feast unaware of what had happened because he was drunk, so she waited until morning to tell him about her meeting with David! In the morning Abigail told Nabal all that happened, and his heart died within him and ten days later the Lord struck him, and he died.
When the servants of David had come to Abigail at Carmel, they spoke to her saying, "David sent us to you to ask you to become his wife." I Samuel 25:40
