"So those servants went out into the highways and gathered together all whom they had found, both bad and good. And the wedding hall was filled with guests. "But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw a man there who did not have on a wedding garment." Matthew 22:10,11

Years ago, I was in Mobile visiting an old friend and mentor when I got a call from a guy from my past named Wesley. He had also been in prison for murder and was a rough-and-tumble kinda guy who would fight you at the drop of a hat! The ladies loved him and called him Super-Wes, but even though he had a rough exterior there was something about him that made you love the guy!

Anyway, he said to me, Preacher, would you marry me, I said, Wesley, you're not my type, no, no I mean I found this lady and want to marry her would you do the wedding? I told him we would get together when I got back and so we did. I went to the lady's home and saw that she was well off, nice looking, and somewhat sophisticated not exactly someone who would marry an ex-con and bar fighter, but to each his own.

One night I went back to their home where Wesley was drunk and an old friend who was my drug dealer in the past was there who I was trying to reach for Jesus. I married them and left and a year later the lady called me and said, "Wesley's dead would you do his funeral? I said what happened and she said her son shot him. She said they got into an argument and Wesley fired a shotgun at him and then went down the stairs after him while the boy unloaded a nine mm into Wesley. You could see the holes in the wall that had been patched and Wesley said to her, "I love you and died in a pool of blood without his wedding garment.

Wesley had always said he wouldn't live past fifty and so he died just after his fiftieth birthday. I did the service and later found out the lady had a substantial life insurance policy on Ole Wes, who knew? Do you have your wedding garments on, or will you be found undressed for the wedding of the Bride of Christ and the Lamb of God?

"Then the king said to the servants bind the one without his wedding garments hand and foot, take him away, and cast him into outer darkness, there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth! "For many are called but few are chosen." Matthew 22:13,14
