Israel was becoming a nation of laws as they were given the commandments of God and now, they would build a house for the Most High. God's desire from the beginning was to dwell among His people and provide for them.
God gave Moses explicit instructions how He wanted the sanctuary built and had Israel take up an offering of material for the furnishings and for the construction of the ark of the covenant. This would be the first time that God had a place to dwell with man and His presence would rest in this most holy place!
The sanctuary of God was a type and shadow of His church body yet to come in the future where we are His building and dwelling place built of living stones. We are His body in the earth, the expression of the Lord Jesus Christ!
"And there I will meet with you, and I will speak with you from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim which are on the ark of the Testimony, about everything which I will give you in commandment to the children of Israel" Exodus 25:22
