The scripture states that even the demons believe but they are not saved, millions say they believe in Jesus, but they too are not saved!
The Greek verb "pisteuo" primarily means to believe or to have faith. It conveys a sense of trust and reliance upon someone or something. This is very deceiving to people who are coerced into praying a prayer without faith or saying they believe without trusting their life to Jesus. The sinner's prayer, prayed by millions was derived from Romans 10:8-10
A person must be convicted of his sins or led by the Holy Spirit in order to be saved, otherwise the prayer prayed will just be empty words. Romans instructs us to believe in our heart and confess with our mouth, Jesus as our Lord and Savior!
If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:9,10
