He was wounded (pierced) for our transgressions. Isaiah 53:5

He was wounded (pierced) for our transgressions. Isaiah 53:5

When Jesus was taken to the cross, they pierced His hands with nails, although many think they penetrated His wrists that would have held more weight but, in any case, the nails struck the nerves causing excruciating pain.

The blood He shed forgave our transgressions, a willful deviation from the path ofrighteousness, a premeditated crossing of the line of God's law, a rebellious act of rejecting God's authority. We as sinners have transgressed God's law and traveled the broad road of destruction but by His blood, we can enter through the narrow gate that leads to eternal life in Christ!

Imagine the people watching this horrible execution of the Lord Jesus thinking about the time He laid His hands on them and healed them. His hands performed countless miracles ofgrace and mercy setting many free from demonic possession and healing sickness, disease and infirmity.

For as the heavens are high above the earth. So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him. As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us. Psalm 103:11,12
