This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk in the futility of their mind, having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart. Ephesians 4:17,18

I would say that because most of us are Gentiles this scripture would refer to those who walk according to the flesh and the world! Many of our American churches are worldly and have not taught their people that they are to separate themselves from it and its pleasures and lusts!

I John says if we love the world, the love of the Father is not in us! Let's face it, the world is out to seduce us with its wealth and pleasures. Because of the media which is everywhere as close as our phones the temptation is ever before us trying to draw us into its web of lust!

When we succumb to its lusts our eyes are blinded to the truth and our hearts become hard as rock, unable to receive the anointed word from the Holy Spirit or His conviction of sin. This is a dangerous place for a believer to be, on the edge of the broad road that leads to destruction!

If indeed you have heard Jesus and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness. Ephesians 4:21-24
