"Then the Kingdom of Heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom." Matthew 25:1
The parable of the virgins is a prophetic view of the end times and the return of the Bridegroom, Jesus! The ten virgins represent the wise and the foolish ones, five took oil in their lamps and five took no oil. Oil is symbolic of the Holy Spirit.
The lamp of the body is the eye as stated in Matthew 6:22 and the eye provides either darkness depending on what you are looking at, or light which illuminates your heart and soul! The moral of this parable is while we are waiting upon the Lord for His glorious return, our lamps should be full of oil which denotes that our hearts should be Spirit-filled!
While they were all waiting for the Bridegroom, they all went to sleep, which I am afraid many today have, and they are not filled with the Holy Spirit. When a shout announced the coming of the Bridegroom the wise virgins had enough oil but the foolish didn't and while they went to purchase oil for their lamps the Bridegroom came and the wise went in with Him!
"Watch, therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming." Matthew 25:13
