"For after seven more days I will cause it to rain on the earth forty days and forty nights, and I will destroy from the face of the earth all living things that I have made." Genesis 7:4
God gave Noah explicit directions and a Divine design to build an ark for he and his family. I wondered why there were no other people allowed to enter the ark, after all Noah preached for years while he built this giant boat on dry land. I would imagine they mocked him and made sport of this crazy old man.
It is no different today, people make fun of preachers, many of whom have perverted the word of God or gone after money and success instead of delivering the truth of God's word and the gospel of Jesus Christ! The wages of sin is death and evidently no one repented after hearing Noah's Message, and it began to rain, and God closed the door to the ark!
God does not tolerate sin and rebellion as the Old Testament displays for this isn't the only time God destroyed sinners from the face of the earth as we will see in the upcoming Devotions.
And all flesh died that moved on the earth: birds and cattle and beasts and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, and every man. Genesis 7:21
