Therefore, do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. Romans 6:12-15
Therefore, do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. In the garden, Adam and Eve presented themselves to Satan as instruments of unrighteousness when they willingly took of the fruit that they were not allowed to eat! When we give in to temptation, this is what we are doing by presenting our bodies to unrighteousness.
Upon our born-again transformation, our God-given conscience is connected to the convicting power of the Holy Spirit, who warns us when we are tempted. Like a built-in alarm system, we are alerted when approached by sin. As the word states, "Sin shall not have dominion over us." We are under the grace of God!
When we are tempted to sin, we have been given a way of escape. When approached by temptation, we are to resist and, if necessary, do an about-face and run! There is a point of no return when confronted with sin, especially when it involves sexual temptation, and that is when you have put yourself in a situation you can't or won't escape!
But now, having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness and the end, everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:22,23
