The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger, and his glory is to overlook a transgression. Proverbs 19:11
The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger, and his glory is to overlook a transgression. Proverbs 19:11
Discretion is the key; sadly, not many possess it, so that the smallest thing can set them off. A couple of guys come to mind, Sammy and Wesley. Neither had discretion, and both went to prison for murder.
Upon their release, I ministered to both of them, but to no avail. Sammy was killed in a drug deal gone wrong, and Wesley was killed by his new stepson. I married him and his fiancée, and a year later, I did his funeral. I also did Sammie's funeral. Two wasted lives who lived fast and died young because of anger and rage!
Only Jesus can heal a broken heart and transform our anger into the love of God. Years ago, when we were involved in prison ministry, one of our team members was a former member of the Latin Kings who killed a man in prison and then was gloriously saved. Today, he is a minister of the gospel and as peaceful and kind as a lamb!
So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath. James 1:19
