Jesus was inaugurating the New Covenant church with the advent of a new and living way and the endowment of the Holy Spirit. The old way of doing things was being done away with, the priesthood with its rules and regulations and the traditions of men!
The spiritual foundation was being laid for the most powerful entity the world has ever seen! Eleven master builders would arise with a twelfth added to meet the number of God's government and this new expression of the Lord Jesus Christ would change the world forever!
One hundred twenty would wait upon the outpouring of Holy Spirit from the Father in one accord, perfect unity would prevail in God's new spiritual house! Power from on High would be seen and as the gifts were given 3000 would be saved in the streets!
"But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." Acts 1:8
