He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust." Psalm 91:1,2
When I was a child and was with my father, I felt no fear because he was a big man, over six foot tall and solid as a rock so as I stood in his shadow it was my fortress of safety and peace and so it is with our God.
In order to be in One's shadow, one must stay close to them and so it is with abiding in the shadow of the Almighty! To abide is to live, or to dwell in the ever-present shade of God that protects us from the intense heat of the enemy's attacks on our lives! The closer we can get the more peace we have as we cling to His presence.
Remember to stay close and be careful not to let your guard down and begin to wander off or let the enemy seduce you with his many schemes. Adam and Eve lived in a beautiful garden in the shade of many trees and were given all things to enjoy but Satan invaded their space and convinced them to disobey God and eat from a forbidden tree!
Surely, He shall deliver you from the snare (trap) of the fowler, (one who catches birds in a trap) and from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge, His truth shall be your shield and buckler. Psalm 91:3,4
