But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified (pardoned) by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. Titus 3:4-7
All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, but those who have come in faith, asking for mercy, are pardoned by His grace. Salvation is a supernatural transformation of the believer from a condemned sinner to a new creation in Christ!
Being born in sin, we have no excuse but to surrender ourselves to God in faith to His Son, Jesus. Only by His selfless sacrifice of His death, burial, and resurrection can we be forgiven and washed in His blood shed for all who will receive Him by faith!
Once we have repented and become born again, we become heirs according to the hope of eternal life in Christ. The scripture exhorts us to be careful to maintain good works, not for salvation but for our service to the Lord Jesus.
This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men. Titus 3:8
