"See I have set before you today life and good, death and evil, in that I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, that you may live and multiply, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land which you go to possess. "But if your heart turns away so that you do not hear, and are drawn away, and worship other gods and serve them, "I announce to you today that you shall surely perish, you shall not prolong your days in the land." Deuteronomy 30:15-18

Within chapter thirty the famous "Sinner's Prayer" was developed and preached by the apostle Paul in Romans 10:8-10 and later by Charles Finney and then millions of others. Although praying a little prayer will not save you as if by some magical potion it would transform a person, it takes a relationship with Jesus and repentance from a sinful life!
It's with the heart that one is saved not the prayer and the knowledge of sin that produces godly sorrow that leads to repentance! When one is convicted by the Holy Spirit the heart is pierced with the knowledge that he is lost and needs salvation by faith! The night I was led to the Lord the man asked me if I thought God would save me, and all I said was yes and I was saved!
If you don't know Jesus, there is the hope that if you repent and ask for His forgiveness, He will save you and wash away your sins with His blood. He is faithful to transform you, and, in your heart, you will know that you have been truly Born Again by faith!
But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that is, the word of faith which we preach; that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Romans 10:8-10
