Deliver those who are drawn toward death and hold back those stumbling to the slaughter. Proverbs 24:11

For years, we have delivered the drug addicts, alcoholics, and those who were suicidal or hopeless from certain death. Many had come from jail or prison, probated or paroled; we took anyone who needed help.

It took years to learn how to help the helpless and to discern who truly needed help from those who just wanted three hots and a cot! I'm not talking about the thousands of street people who beg at the intersections; I am talking about desperate people who were at death's door. Jesus took His disciples into the streets where the sick and demonized were, the blind, and even the beggars, and He healed them and taught the disciples by example.

Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew, Bethesda, having five porches. In these lay a great multitude of sick people, blind, lame, paralyzed, waiting for the moving of the water. For an angel went down at a certain time into the pool and stirred up the water; then whoever stepped in first, after the stirring of the water, was made well of whatever disease he had. Now, a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?”

If you say, “Surely we did not know this,” Does not He who weighs the hearts consider it? He who keeps your soul, does He not know it? And will He not render to each man according to his deeds? Proverbs 24:12
