The famous "Sinners Prayer" was developed from Deuteronomy 30 and millions have prayed it, many of whom left the Lord thinking that their ticket was punched for Heaven but because they didn't make Jesus Lord, they perished without Him!
Salvation does not just happen because we prayed a little oath as if by some magical spell we were saved! Salvation comes to us when the Holy Spirit convicts us that we are sinners, lost, and unable to save ourselves so we must confess and repent and make Jesus our Lord forever, not just for a day!
Nicodemus, a teacher of the Jews came to Jesus questioning Him and Jesus said to Him, "You must be born again to inherit eternal life, that which is born of the flesh is flesh and that which is born of the Spirit is Spirit." In other words, we must become New Creations in Christ, transformed by His supernatural power and re-created in His image!
For by grace, you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. Ephesians 2:8
