Judas had betrayed Jesus and after they had gone to Gethsemane to pray the soldiers arrested Him. After He was questioned by the governor and the people chose Barabbas they put a crown of thorns on His head, mocked Him, and led Him away to be crucified.
From the garden to the grave this began the "Via Dolorosa," the way of suffering. When Jesus sweat blood in the garden until the spear pierced His heart on the cross, He bled in seven specific places each of which set mankind free and delivered them from their sins! His sacrifice was a complete deliverance, healing, and restoration to cleanse the transgressions of all mankind!
Your sins are forgiven you but in order to appropriate what Jesus did for you, you must believe and acknowledge your sins and make Him Lord of your life! The thief on the cross was convicted of his sins and acknowledged Jesus as Lord and King and He told him he would be with Him that very day in paradise!
Surely, He has borne our griefs (sicknesses) and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded (pierced through) for our transgressions, He was bruised (crushed) for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes (blows that cut) we are healed. Isaiah 53:4,5
