It was prophesied for eons of a Messiah coming to free His people and He would manifest signs, wonders and miracles to prove that He was indeed the One! The religious crowd didn't believe in Him and sought someone of great importance to become their king!
Likened to Samuel inspecting Jesse's sons to anoint a new King over Israel, he saw great potential in them but in the flesh only, and not the Spirit! Finally asking if there were any more sons, Jesse said that he had one more, David who was tending his sheep. And so, a ruddy young lad who slept outside under the stars was chosen to be King over the nation of Israel!
Jesus was just an ordinary Jewish man although born of a virgin and possessing a Divine nature being fully human, He was also fully God! The God-man had finally come to give His life for mankind by the shedding of His own blood on the cross!
Jesus answered the disciples of John and said to them, "Go and tell John the things which you see and hear: "The blind see and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them. "And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me." Matthew 11:3-6
