Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: He who shows mercy, with cheerfulness. Romans 12:4-8
Peter came to Jesus and asked Him, "How often shall my brother sin against me and I forgive him? Up to seven times?" Jesus said to him, "I do not say to you up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven." Jesus then told them a story of mercy and forgiveness.
A certain king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants and one was brought to him who owed ten thousand talents but was unable to pay so his master commanded that he and his family to be sold and that payment be made. The servant fell down and cried out, "Have patience with me and I will repay all!" The master had compassion and released him, and he went out and found a fellow servant who owed him one hundred denarii and laid hands on him choking him and demanding payment!
When the master's servants saw what had happened, they reported it to their master and he said to him, "You wicked servant I forgave you all that debt because you begged me, should you not have had mercy on your fellow servant as I had mercy on you?"
"And his master moved with anger and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due him. "So shall my heavenly Father also do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses." Matthew 18:21-35
