Then Naaman who was afflicted with leprosy went with his horses and chariot, and he stood at the door of Elisha's house. And Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, "Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall be restored to you, and you shall be clean." II Kings 5:9,10

When his servants told him what Elisha said he was furious because it was beneath him to wash in that dirty old Jordan! Naaman then said that Elisha would come out and stand and call on the name of the Lord and wave his hand over the place and heal the leprosy but that was his way and not God's!
When God says to be healed as Jesus did many times in the New Testament, He would often tell those who came to be healed to do something as a statement or action of faith such as stretch out your hand, rise and walk or when Jesus mixed His spittle with dirt to heal a blind man. When Jesus tells us what we need to do to be healed we need to do it!
Naaman's servants told him, "If the prophet has told you to do something great, would you not have done it? How much more then, when he says to you, 'Wash and be clean'?"
So he went down and dipped seven times in the Jordan according to the saying of the man of God; and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean. II Kings 5:14
