Now a certain ruler asked Jesus, saying, "Good teacher what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" Jesus said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is God." Luke 18:18,19

That is the question many ask, how do I get saved and inherit eternal life? Many others will tell you and they will say, "Be a good person, join the church, get baptized or pray the sinner's prayer." All of these answers sound good but none of them will save you!
Jesus told the rich young ruler to keep the commandments, and he said he had kept them from his youth. That is astounding because no one else has ever kept the commandments. Jesus then said to him, "You still lack one thing, sell all that you have and give it to the poor and you will have treasure in Heaven; and come follow Me."
The boy became sorrowful because his riches had his heart and he couldn't do what Jesus told him to do, and he left. The disciples then said, "Who can be saved?" Jesus answered and said, "The things which are impossible with men are possible with God."
For by grace (unmerited favor) you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; (good works) it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. Ephesians 2:8,9
