He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.” Psalm 91:1-2
God's shadow is our tabernacle, our secret place where His word tells us to dwell! To abide under His shadow is to stay close to Him. Many who claim to be Christians only dwell with Him on Sundays and maybe Wednesday thinking that is enough, but through the week they are gone on their own way.
God doesn't sleep, nor does the devil, and that is why we must abide in Him 24/7! The battle rages on as we traverse this world, walking the narrow paths with God, and this is why we must stay close to Him! God is a fortress, a place of protection, and a shield for us to block the schemes of the devil, without which we would be wide open to his attacks!
The snare of the fowler is a trap for birds, and as we walk with God, we must be on the alert for one of Satan's snares. When I was in the Marine Corps, we had to traverse an infiltration course set with traps and snares, and even live fire overhead. To rise up would have meant death, so we had to remain vigilant!
Surely, He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. Psalm 91:3-4
