Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever, Amen. Hebrews 13:20,21

I've not heard of many sheep able to be trained being some of the dumbest and stubborn animals on the planet! But with God all things are possible. Our Shepherd with His rod and staff can and will work in us what is pleasing in His sight.

As I mentioned in the previous Devotions, Phillip Keller was a shepherd in South Africa, in his book he tells of a ewe lamb who would jump the fence on the edge of a cliff and she taught her kids to do the same putting them in harm's way. To stop her he had to break one of her legs and from that time on he would carry her, an illustration of the good Shepherd.

Another problem for sheep when their wool is wet and heavy and they fall down on their back it is called a cast sheep, unable to get up the Shepherd has to right them and put them back on their feet! So it is with us!

I am the good Shepherd; the good Shepherd lays down His life for the sheep. John 10:11
