And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit (demon) of infirmity eighteen years and was bent over and in no way raise herself up. But when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her, "Woman you are loosed from your infirmity." And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. Because Jesus healed a woman on the Sabbath the ruler of the synagogue rebuked Him, but He came back at him saying, "Hypocrite! "Does not each of you on the Sabbath loose his ox or donkey from the stall, and lead it away to water it?"
It has always been so, at least to me concerning the ministry of Jesus that the church will be the first to discourage you when you step out in faith. I remember when I was first saved and joined the local Baptist church, many of which did not believe in the miracles and power of God and they approached me one day and said that I would cool off just like them, but my pastor rebuked them and said, "Leave him alone!"
Most of the ones who didn't believe eventually left and a revival broke out up in Indiana and my pastor went up and preached there but came back Sunday-nights and shared what was going on. I flew up and was baptized in the Holy Spirit and one Sunday morning at our church during praise and worship I lifted my hands up and praised God and the whole church got quiet and blown away that someone would lift their hands in a Baptist church but later it caught on and everyone was doing it!
"So, ought not this woman being a daughter of Abraham whom Satan bound for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath?" Luke 13:16
