Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: He who exhorts, in exhortation. Romans 12:4-8
The spiritual gift of exhortation used by Paul and other apostles was for the purpose of giving comfort, consolation, encouragement and counsel to the body of Christ. We as believers need to be exhorted in our walk with Jesus and receive that which the Holy Spirit is giving to us.
We can all exhort our brothers and sisters, as this motivation gift is available to all. This spiritual gift is not reserved for pastors but for the whole body of Christ. When someone loses a loved one, we can comfort and console them, when someone is down, we can encourage them to get up and stand firm in their faith! If someone needs Godly counsel, we can give it through the leading of the Holy Spirit.
The body of Christ is so composed of those who operate in their motivational gifts to edify the members of the body, building up their faith and encouraging them on their journey with Jesus!
Even so you, since you are zealous for spiritual gifts, let it be for edification (the building up of one's faith) of the church, that you seek to excel. I Corinthians 14:12
