Elijah, a type and shadow of Jesus and an illustration of a born-again, Spirit filled believer, challenged the prophets of Jezebel and called upon his God and fire fell on his sacrifice and then he killed them all.
After one of the most powerful displays ever that a man of God had performed, Jezebel was furious that he killed her prophets, and he was about to experience a demonic counterattack! This is a warning for believers that when you engage the enemy in spiritual warfare there will be a counterattack.
Elijah ended up in a cave fearing for his life when God spoke to him saying, "Elijah what are you doing here?" Elijah had been swarmed by his enemies with fear, doubt and unbelief unable to endure the attack and he fled into a cave!
So he said, "I have been very zealous for the Lord God of hosts; for the children of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, torn down Your altars, killed Your prophets with the sword and I alone am left; and they seek to take my life. I Kings 19:10
