Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him. Psalm 37:7
Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him. Psalm 37:7
The sum of these precepts is peace knowing that our heavenly Father is in complete control. To rest in Him is to commit ourselves totally to His will and wishes for our lives. To rest and wait are two of the hardest things for most to accomplish because of our stubbornness and stiff-necked ways!
When God delivered Israel from Egypt, He brought them out into the wilderness on a two-week excursion to the land of promise that took them forty years! They just couldn't let go of their own selfish stubborn ways and trust in the One who led them out of bondage and when He did provide food and drink, they whined and complained like spoiled children.
This is why I think He called them the "Children of Israel" because they acted like spoiled children, never satisfied and rebellious in their ways! If you want to live in the desert, a dry and dusty existence that's your choice, but if you want a land flowing with the blessings and fullness of God you will have to trust Him, rest and wait on His provision!
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6,7
