At certain times an angel would come down to the pool and stir the water, then whoever stepped in first was made well of whatever disease he had. Now there was a man there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years.
When Jesus saw him, and already knew that he had been in that condition a long time, He said to Him, "Do you want to be made well?" The sick man answered Him, "Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, other steps down before me." It seems to me that after 38 years I would lie beside the pool and pay someone to push me in when the angel showed up!
I had a man in one of our drug programs who had a saying, "How big is your want to?" In other words, how bad do you want to get healed, delivered, etc? This means a lot when you are seeking the Lord for His mercy! That is why He asked the man if he wanted to get healed!
Jesus said to him, "Rise, take up your bed and walk." John 5:8
