"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." II Timothy 1:7
It seems that everyone struggles with fear, and at some time or another, everyone has dealt with its paralyzing attacks. I believe fear is a principality and has been around since Adam and Eve disobeyed God in the garden.
First of all, God did not give us this spirit; He gave us all power over the powers of darkness, and He gave us agape love and a sound mind. Fear is the enemy of faith, and when we step out to believe, fear is there to destroy our faith. When we get a bad report from our doctor, thoughts flood our minds with fear and negative outcomes, and even our death!
So, how do we deal with this enemy? We look to God's word for deliverance from our fears. The first attack comes into our minds, and this is what God said for us to do: take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, in other words, reject fear's attack and command its negative thought out of your mind in Jesus' name!
“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.” II Corinthians 10:4-6
GOD IS WITH US
"Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10
God is with us always, and He desires us to wage war with our enemies and never let them dwell in our minds. The longer we let them stay, the more they defeat our faith and allow other spirits to enter, even sickness and death.
We have been anointed to fight the good fight and defeat the powers of darkness, but one of our greatest enemies is complacency! Spiritual warfare demands discipline and discernment to defeat our enemies. Many today are unaware of the spiritual attacks that come against them, and they don't deal with them until it's too late!
Most children are raised up in fear of the unknown, the "Boogie Man under their bed, or the many scary movies and even demonic cartoons. This carries over to our adult life as we live in the memories of fear and even seek to be scared with horror films and carnival rides!
"I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears." Psalm 34:4
BE STRONG AND OF GOOD COURAGE
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9
You, as a Spirit-filled believer, do not have to have any fear of anything, and although it attacks frequently, it has no power over you! God has commanded us not to fear; we are free because the blood of Jesus has set us free from all fear, even the generational curse of fear from Adam!
In Part 2, we will learn God's plan to free you from fear, anxiety, and stress, which can ruin a person's life and even cause many types of sickness, disease, and mental disorders, not to mention demon possession! If Satan can hold you captive with fear, he can possess you! (II Timothy 2:25-26) Fear is the enemy and the opposite of faith. Fear, then doubt, then unbelief, and you have been defeated by your enemy!
If fear has tormented you or your family members, pray and ask God to open your eyes to His delivering power, and He will set you free. Jesus shed His blood for us in seven specific places to set us free from all sin, sickness, and disease, including all generational curses! If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed!
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
