Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness, according to the multitude of Your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions, wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. Psalm 51:1,2
Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness, according to the multitude of Your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions, wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. Psalm 51:1,2
David was convicted by the prophet Nathan's Message and cried out for mercy to cleanse him from his sins. He then walked through the steps to deliverance led by Holy Spirit's prompting upon his heart and conscience.
A year had passed before conviction came upon David who had justified his sins and hid within his heart his transgressions against a Holy God, after all he was King of all Israel and could do anything he wanted until the convicting power of God fell upon him, crushing his heart and exposing his sins.
David's journey to freedom and forgiveness was a heart wrenching time of crying out for mercy and confessing his sins and iniquities before God. During this time there was also grief for the loss of a child that his sin caused and the guilt of his actions that followed.
"Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me." Psalm 50:15
