"Why do you kick at My sacrifice and My offering which I have commanded in My dwelling place, and honor your sons more than Me, to make yourselves fat with the best of all the offerings of Israel, My people?" I Samuel 2:29
The priesthood of Eli was corrupt to the core and his sons were evil and wicked stealing the offerings, and bedding the temple prostitutes they were devoid of the Spirit! It was a miracle that little Samuel could grow in the Lord with such debauchery going on!
Samuel learned to minister to the Lord in the mist of evil and chaos and worship in peace. The Holy Spirit protected his heart through this time of training and blessed him greatly to become a great prophet of God. Samuel was truly forged in the fires of trial as God led him through this difficult time of his life.
Then one day a man of God showed up, who in actuality was in fact God himself who delivered a sobering Message to Eli about the curse that would haunt his family forever! It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of an angry God! Although the house of Eli would fall Samuel learned to distinguish between God's word and the devil, and to discern good and evil.
"For I have told Eli that I will judge his house forever for the iniquity which he knows because his sons made themselves vile and he did not restrain them." I Samuel 3:13
