"Then the kingdom of Heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. "Now five of them were wise and five of them were foolish. "Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, "but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps." Matthew 25:1-4

We as the bride of Christ are waiting for our Bridegroom to come and rescue us and take us to be His wife! In this parable it speaks of the foolish and wise virgins, all were virgins but the foolish took no oil with them, a symbol of the Holy Spirit.

The Jewish tradition of betrothal lasts a year or so, during which the bride-to-be waits for the bridegroom to come after he has prepared a place for her. This symbolizes Jesus ascending into Heaven to prepare a place for us! The lamp that is mentioned is our spirit illuminated by the oil of the Holy Spirit, remember the children's song, "This little light of mine, let it shine?"

While the virgins slept a shout awakened them, "Behold the Bridegroom is coming go out to meet Him!" As they went to meet Him the foolish said to the wise give us some of your oil for our lamps are going out! Today many are seeking the oil from a man or a ministry instead of being filled with the Holy Spirit, you can't get oil from a person, only from God!

"Watch, therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming." Matthew 25:13
