This is now the third time Jesus showed Himself to His disciples after He was raised from the dead. So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Peter, "Simon Peter, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?" He said to Him, "Yes Lord; You know that I love You." Jesus said to Him, "Feed My lambs." John 21:14,15

After the fishing expedition and a lesson about being led by the Spirit, Jesus was giving instruction to Peter who was the obvious leader of the soon to be apostles. He asked him three times if he loved Him and told him again to feed His sheep and tend His lambs.

These eleven men would be the first in the New Covenant to build His church, spread the gospel and make disciples! Jesus was making sure they were ready and was questioning Peter about His Devotion. Like a Father to His son, He was giving His last earthly instructions and direction for their upcoming journey into the greatest ministry in the world!

I remember my father on His deathbed telling me a story of a young Jewish boy standing on the porch of his home and his father told him to jump off and he would catch him. The lad told his father no, I will fall but the father was adamant, so the boy jumped, and the father moved back, and the kid fell on the ground! Then my dad said to me, "Don't trust anyone!" He was right because after his death two of his so-called friends tried to take the family business!

"Most assuredly, I say to you, when you were younger, you girded yourself and walked where you wished; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands and another will gird you and carry you where you do not wish." John 2:18
