For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

The word of God is alive, the written word is called logos, and the spoken word is called rhema. The written word contains all that God is, and all that He does, and what He stands for. The spoken word is His personal revelation of His word to us!

The Word gives many descriptions and definitions of itself throughout the Bible, and it displays many characteristics of God such as the supernatural ability to create life! God created the earth and all it contained, the universe, the stars, and every living thing on the planet by the power of His Word.

God the Father is the Word and Jesus is also the Word, by His side even before the beginning of time and throughout the creation of all things even to eternity! With no beginning or end the Triune God reigns supreme throughout the creation forever!

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. John 1:1-5

LET THERE BE LIGHT

Then God said, "Let there be light" and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. Genesis 1:3,4

Light was spoken into existence with the word of God, as was the entire creation! As the scripture states, the Word is God and God is a God of light and gives that light to whoever receives His Son Jesus.

Those who have been born again are lamps filled with the oil of Holy Spirit that shines in the darkness and lights up the whole world. Our light defeats darkness and we are led by His light as we traverse the paths of life! We as the body of Christ are the light of the world sent to bear witness of the light and to shine before others the light that is within us!

Imagine the 120 who received the Holy Spirit and the gift of tongues at Pentecost, each one had a tongue of fire upon their head that signified that the church of the Lord Jesus is a lamp to the world!

"You are the light of the world. A city that is set upon a hill cannot be hidden. "Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in Heaven." Matthew 5:14-16

THE WORD IS SEED

"He who received seed (the Word) on good ground (the heart) is he who hears the Word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundred-fold, some sixty, some thirty." Matthew 13:23

The word of God is seed to be sown in the hearts of men and women, who when they receive it will begin to grow and bear fruit. This is how people are born again, just like natural seed when sown in good ground bears fruit, so the supernatural seed enters our hearts and sprouts salvation!

My ministry for the past fifteen or so years has been to sow seed in the hearts of people who in turn will take what I have sown and sow it in others. This keeps the garden of God well planted with supernatural seed that will sprout new plants in His kingdom. The word also illustrates a vineyard that produces fruit that will spread out and provide the wine that we take as communion.

The church of the Lord Jesus Christ is called the vineyard of the Lord of Hosts, made up of the branches of the Lord's vine that produces a harvest of Divine fruit for the kingdom of God! If we abide in Him, He will abide in us!

"I am the vine; you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples." John 15:5-8

THE BREAD OF LIFE

For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world." Then they said to Him, "Lord, give us this bread always." And Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst. John 6:33-35

Bread comes from seed and as the seed of His word finds good ground in our heart, so the bread of God is eaten and transformed into supernatural food. Take communion for instance it is taken by faith and when ingested it does a supernatural work in our body and when we receive Jesus, we are eating the bread of life!

Jesus is the Word and as we eat His Word, we receive the bread of life! Jesus told His disciples, "Unless you eat the flesh of the Son of God and drink His blood, you have no life in you." This is the supernatural explanation revealed to us to eat, digest, and receive His life. The Word is true food and gives spiritual life to all who receive it.

Remember, Logos is the written word which we read and as we meditate on it the Rehma word reveals the spiritual meaning to us. This is what eating His flesh is all about and how we are filled with spiritual nourishment in our spirits.

"Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life. I am the bread of life. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness and are dead. This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die. I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world." John 6:47-51

PRESENT YOURSELF APPROVED TO GOD

Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of God. II Timothy 2:15

In other words, we must be proficient at handling the word of God, especially for our younger believers who can be deceived very easily. Because of tradition, doctrine and false teaching millions have been blinded to the truth!

I have experienced many teachers, prophets and preachers who because they were deceived, they deceived others unknowingly in most cases. I had to unlearn much of what I was taught early on in my journey with Jesus and had to rely on the Holy Spirit to teach and train me in the ministry of the word.

Our teacher is the Holy Spirit who reveals the logos (written word) to us and speaks to our spirit through the rhema or revelation of His word. We must be diligent to spend time reading, meditating and praying over what He is teaching us so that we will be counted as stewards of His word!

Blessed is the man (or woman) who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful, but his delight is in the law (word) of the Lord, and in His law, he meditates (think about what you are reading carefully) day and night. He shall be a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper. Psalm 1:1-3
