For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith. Romans 12:4-6
For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith. Romans 12:4-6
There are seven motivational gifts that give us a reason to act, a driving force behind our behaviors. Each one in the body will exhibit one that stands out, even though they may have others that can be used at different times when needed.
Prophecy is speaking out the word of God or will of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit, to the body for instruction, direction, and edification. There is a great need for prophecy in the body of Christ, rather than all these "Lone Ranger" so-called prophets who speak smooth words and sugar-coated mush to tickle the ears of the deceived.
We, as the body of Christ, when assembled, need to hear God, not just a pastor with a sermon. The direction of the church depends upon the leading of the Spirit through prophecy and the participation of the whole body!
Let two or three people prophesy, and let the others evaluate what is said. But if someone is prophesying and another person receives a revelation from the Lord, the one who is speaking must stop. In this way, all who prophesy will have a turn to speak, one after the other, so that everyone will learn and be encouraged. Remember that people who prophesy are in control of their spirit and can take turns. For God is not a God of disorder but of peace, as in all the meetings of God’s holy people. I Corinthians 14:29-33
