May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble; May the name of the God of Jacob defend you. May He send you help from the sanctuary and strengthen you out of Zion; may He remember all your offerings and accept your burnt sacrifice. Selah. Psalm 20:1-3

The believer deals with many days of trouble, some are tests and trials, and others are attacks from the enemy! In any case, God is our defender; never think that He is too busy or doesn't care because He loves each one of us and is always available to come to our defense!

King David knew this very well as he fought many battles with not only Goliath, but the armies of the Amalekites and even his own family members! David is an example of a man after God's own heart, a warrior, a psalmist, and a leader of God's people. His life was one with many days of trouble and many times of victory over the powers of darkness!

As the word states, God is faithful to grant the desires of our hearts, and He fulfills all of the purposes in our lives as long as they are centered in His perfect will for us. Our life and testimony are a banner to the world, and like a flag that designates a country, it displays our transformed life as a new-creation believer!

May He grant you according to your heart’s desire and fulfill all your purposes. We will rejoice in your salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners! May the Lord fulfill all your petitions. Psalm 20:4-5

by Timothy Laughlin Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast (firm, immovable and faithful) spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation and uphold me by Your generous Spirit. Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, and sinners shall be converted to You. Psalm 51:10-13 Is it really possible to have a pure and clean heart, even when you have committed adultery and murder? The answer is a resounding, yes! Through confession, acknowledgment, and repentance, God will wash your sins away and remove them from as far as the east is from the west! He will renew your relationship with Him and restore your faith and joy in your salvation. Fear, doubt, and unbelief will leave, and peace will cover your spirit, soul, and body. The hole in your heart will be closed and filled with Holy Spirit presence! His powerful anointing will return, and sinners will be saved! David repented of his sins, and God forgave him and set him free from his transgressions and iniquities. Although God forgives us, we must remember that the consequences of our sins continue to follow us even though we repent. David suffered greatly during the rest of his life. Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God, the God of my salvation, and my tongue shall sing aloud of Your righteousness. O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth shall show forth Your praise. For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it; You do not delight in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart— These, O God, you will not despise.
